Congratulations Jamaica

Flag
Now that the Olympics have come to an end, we here at Bonita Jamaica will return to what we do best; positively represent and promote Jamaica in the global arena. Our athletes all did a great job in giving the world a taste of how great Jamaica is. Not all our athletes performed well enough to win a medal, but for us you are all winners. By simply stepping out in your Jamaican colors to perform was enough. Out of 204 countries that participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics, Jamaica came in 20th, with 11 medals. Stellar!

Olympics
Days leading up to the opening of the games, the Wall Street Journal ran a story that pointed out that all our sprinters were being trained in Jamaica, and not in any foreign country. That story also pointed out that some of the sprinters who trained at the University of Technology (UTECH), Kingston, Jamaica, did so in a gym that had a broken air condition unit, and that they also trained on a dirt track. The point was well made that we are not a financially resource rich country. Still, we entered Beijing and walked away as the star country of the games, which makes the point that money does not make people and countries great. And because jealousy is a disease with no cure, don't expect everyone in the world to be happy for us. Haters and naysayers are already upon us, talking all sort of bs.

And as for that television network in the US called NBC (NBC Universal). We would just like to remind you that nothing and no one can stop greatness. You did a very poor job in showing the Jamaican events and in bringing your viewers our medal and award ceremonies. Still, the entire world knows that Jamaica ruled the Olympics.

So many firsts in this Olympics. It's the first time any one man broke three world records in his three events. It's the first time one country got all the medals in the women's 100M race. And the list goes on.

Congratulations once again to Jamaica's entire Olympic Team, including all the staff and behind-the-scenes personnel. Big up all Jamaicans and all friends of Jamaica worldwide. Now we celebrate. Bim!

It's beautiful to be revered.
