La Pluma Negra is a clothing brand that started around November of 2003, in Kingston, Jamaica, out of the need to have a Jamaican brand that offers quality clothing and exhibits cultural awareness and national pride. The designs are avant-garde, sexy, 'tough', classy, and capture the great sense of humor of the Caribbean by using well-known phrases. The line initially started with t-shirts, but today their collection has capris, sweatshirts, jackets, sweat suits, hats, underwear, and much more.
The name 'La Pluma Negra' is Spanish for 'the Black pen or feather'. Their goal is to use this 'pen' to document cultural nuances. La Pluma Negra caters to men, women, and children. Their children line, called 'Tickles', is designed to teach children all over the world about the history and culture of Jamaica and the Caribbean, and to help children develop a sense of culture and pride.
